Woven Bowl

The Woven Bowl explores the transformation of a flat material into a spatial object through weaving. Individual strips of vulcanized fiber are interlaced to create a continuous surface, combining a precisely defined centre with freely deforming edges.

The woven structure creates a delicate balance between order and irregularity. While the central bowl is carefully shaped to provide a defined functional surface, the surrounding strips remain open to the forces of forming and drying. Their edges curl, lift and shift, giving the object an almost textile and organic character.

Rather than concealing the process, the bowl makes it visible. The weave, the changing curvature and the material's response to drying become part of the design turning a simple arrangement of strips into a lightweight, tactile and living object.

Each piece is unique, with the material's individual response to forming and drying shaping its final character.
